The Year In Private Security 2015

2015 has been a year of news stories featuring mass shootings, and the public’s demand for better security is hard to ignore. As fear of crime increases, so does the need for professional private security services has increased.

This blogpost will go over some of the changes and industry improvements that have occurred in private security throughout 2015. We also spotlight the recipient of the ASIS Security Officer of the Year award.

Examples Of 2015 Private Security Industry Needs & Changes

  • Schools Are Hiring Private Security – Recently, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio signed a bill allowing church and private schools to hire private security guards to protect their facilities. Private security guards are now replacing police officers for the specialized protection and training they offer.
  • Drones In Private Security – With the increase in the use of drones in various industries, the private security industry has found a way to use the new technology to enhance on-site security patrols. Drones increase surveillance patrols and the ability to monitor traffic in areas once limited to static cameras. Another bonus, a drone is inexpensive and can be deployed instantly.
  • Active Shooter Protection – As active shooter tragedies continue happen in communities, police departments find themselves limited in their ability to respond to emergencies. Highly trained private security guards have training to deal with active shooting situations, and they can respond in quicker fashion due to being on-site if an incident happens.
